Defense lawyers for two indicted Atlanta attorneys are arguing that some charges in the election interference case involving former President Donald Trump should be thrown out because they violated political speech freedoms and were not specific enough.

Christopher Anulewicz, representing one of the indicted lawyers, Robert Cheeley, told Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee on Dec. 1 that some charges within the indictment relate to defendants giving their opinions about who won the election—not engaging in overt criminal activity such as ballot stuffing, bribery or violence.
