After a decadeslong dispute over water rights, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey have reached a proposed agreement, but the duo now need the approval of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

According to a news release, in addition to putting an end to a lawsuit brought by Kay, the agreement reached by the Southern state leaders addresses the need for sufficient minimum water flows for both state's citizens living in the Mid- and Lower Chattahoochee River Basin during times of drought.
