On the federal level, the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) regulates foreign "influence" over the U.S. government and its citizens through disclosure of certain activities undertaken by "foreign principals," as well as "agents" acting on their behalf to influence lawmakers or the public. Largely, this has remained in the purview of the federal government, though this could change with Georgia Senate Bill 368 (SB368), which is currently sitting on Gov. Brian Kemp's desk.
