For only the second time in America’s 248-year-old history, a female is the standard-bearer of a major political party competing for the office of the presidency. For the first time, the candidate—Vice President Kamala Harris—is a woman of color. For many, she’s a sign of hope and progress, but for some others, unfortunately, she is a trigger for resentment, grievance and raw racism.
