Dinsmore & Shohl litigator Barbara Edelman originally bonded with client Carol Martin “Bill” Gatton over their shared love of the University of Kentucky—but she had no idea what that friendship would lead to.
A businessman and philanthropist, Gatton apparently thought so much of his attorney’s legal representation that he decided to give $16 million to her family’s Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center for diabetes research at the University of Kentucky. The gift establishes a fund in Edelman’s name to hire diabetes experts and expand research and scholarships for budding dieticians interested in diabetes care.
