CommentaryRecent Georgia legislation reacting to the chaotic state of Georgia bad-faith settlement law evokes a reverse comparison to a failed World War II military operation infamous because it attempted to accomplish too much. It was September 1944, and Operation Market Garden aimed to end German occupation of the Netherlands by taking control of five bridges that were an important gateway into Germany. Securing the last bridge in the small Dutch town of Arnhem was mission critical, but the operation failed spectacularly, as described in the book and 1977 film "A Bridge Too Far."
