A federal judge in Georgia tossed a lawsuit filed by a woman who alleged that economy hotel chain Extended Stay America failed to intervene, allowing her to allegedly be trafficked "an incalculable amount of times" at an Atlanta location.

U.S. District Judge J.P. Boulee for the Northern District of Georgia dismissed the suit in an order issued Nov. 15, finding that the Jane Doe plaintiff's allegations did not contain enough "non-conclusory" factual support to justify a claim under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act. Boulee found that Doe failed to sufficiently allege that she was even a victim of sex trafficking or that Extended Stay participated in a venture involving trafficking. The court noted that "participation in a venture" is typically defined as "knowingly assisting, supporting or facilitating" a commercial sex act obtained through threats or force.
