A fiber-optics installer who suffered second-degree burns on the job secured a $6.8 million verdict last week in what may be the second-highest personal injury award in the Houston County State Courthouse in Perry, Georgia.

Following a seven-day trial, the jury sided with Brian Quanstrum, 39, for severe burns he suffered in August 2022, while working on land owned by Flint Electric Membership Corp. in Warner Robins, Georgia. Quanstrum, an employee of Bore More Construction, accidentally struck an underground power line and suffered electrical burns to his nervous system and internal organs, along with external burn scarring on 20% of his body according to a pre-trial order.
