- Troutman Pepper and Womble Bond Dickinson announced mergers with other large firms.
- The combinations give the Southeast-founded firms new markets in Texas, Arizona and Colorado.
- Kilpatrick Townsend, Ogletree Deakins also added talent, new markets this year through mergers.
Some 2024 mergers involving Southeast-rooted Big Law firms allowed them to move into new markets and add talent that strengthened existing practice areas.
The two largest combinations will give two Am Law 100 firms direct access to new Southwest and Rocky Mountain markets and create national and international entities with more than 1,000 lawyers each after Jan. 1.
