AP - A well-known Charlotte defense lawyer has plans to withdraw from the team representing John Edwards weeks before the scheduled start of his criminal trial.Jim Cooney filed the request in U.S. District Court on Thursday. He declined to comment Friday.Cooney has advised Edwards on the case since well before the former presidential was indicted last summer and has appeared in court during numerous pre-trial proceedings.
