Embattled Brunswick Superior Court Chief Judge Amanda F. Williams announced her retirement Monday, ending a wide-ranging ethics investigation by the state’s judicial disciplinary agency but leaving open the possibility that she could still face criminal charges.
Williams, who turned 65 on Dec. 12, notified Gov. Nathan Deal in a one-sentence letter that she would retire Jan. 2.
