Tangled litigation between the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless and its former and current landlords has become so knotted that the state appeals courts may stand between conflicting orders from a Fulton County judge.

The confusion began last week when Fulton County Superior Court Judge Craig L. Schwall issued an unexpected order allowing the owners of the building at Peachtree and Pine streets to evict the Task Force’s 1,000-person homeless shelter, only to undo that order four days later.
