A Telfair County jury has awarded $2.8 million to a man whose wrecker was hit head-on by a skidding, jackknifed tractor trailer.

The October 2008 crash on Georgia Highway 31 in Telfair County crushed Raford E. Horton’s pelvis and put him in the hospital for 45 days, according to court records. Horton underwent 12 surgeries, including hip and knee replacement, in the process of recovery. His lawyer, Katherine L. McArthur, said he has since been unable to run his wrecker service without help and suffers permanent pain and mobility impairment.
