After a stint in solo practice, Thomas A. Cox and his education practice have joined Carlock, Copeland & Stair.

Cox won a decision from the Georgia Supreme Court in May for his clients, Atlanta Public Schools and the DeKalb County School System, which struck down a 2008 law authorizing a state commission to approve charter schools. The Supreme Court ruled that a provision in the state Constitution allowing the Legislature to create “special schools” did not include state-approved charter schools.
