The chairman of Gwinnett County’s Indigent Defense Governing Committee said he does not believe allegations that a former indigent defense attorney overbilled the county is a sign the system can easily be exploited in the future.

That’s because the county is implementing an electronic billing system that should catch incorrect or questionable bills, governing committee Chairman David S. Lipscomb said.
