An inconsistency in start dates between a constitutional amendment on noncompete agreements and companion legislation has forced state lawmakers to pass an essential replica of a bill enacted in 2009.

House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Wendell K. Willard, R-Sandy Springs, conceded that the Legislature’s effort to change employment laws so judges may alter disputed contracts with noncompete agreements was complicated-and made more so by the oversight.
