The U.S. Supreme Court this week said it would review two decisions from Atlanta’s 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals-one about a Georgia law enforcement officer accused of lying to a grand jury, the other about a big New York law firm’s mistake in representing an Alabama death row inmate.

The Georgia case involved claims that Dougherty County authorities improperly pursued a criminal investigation as a political favor to Albany’s Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
