While a State Bar committee and the Georgia Supreme court examine options for a statewide e-filing system, some metro Atlanta courts are proceeding separately with their own e-filing projects that could be ready by early next year.

Gwinnett County’s Superior, State and Magistrate courts will adopt next year an e-filing system for civil cases that’s being developed by the Georgia Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority, said Gwinnett court clerk Thomas C. Lawler III. Cobb County also plans to implement e-filing for civil cases next year, but its system is being developed by the county’s private software vendor, said Jay C. Stephenson, the Cobb Superior Court clerk.
