The contenders slated for a runoff to secure an open spot on the DeKalb Superior Court bench said they were out till about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, watching poll results and celebrating with supporters.

Courtney L. Johnson, who took the top spot in the four-way race for the seat vacated by retired Judge Robert J. Castellani, said she was at Taco Mac in downtown Decatur with friends, former colleagues and other supporters. Johnson, who left her job as a senior assistant district attorney in DeKalb County to run for judge, secured 36.8 percent of the vote.
