The former chief judge of the Alapaha Circuit is fighting to keep his state law license, arguing that he pleaded guilty to violating a federal law last year that the U.S. Supreme Court has since largely struck down.
Former Alapaha Circuit Chief Judge Brooks E. Blitch III, who is serving probation for the federal crime of conspiring to deprive Georgia taxpayers of his honest services, told the Daily Report that his efforts to keep his bar license may hinge on whether he tries to persuade a federal judge to vacate his guilty plea.
