Lawyers giving money in the race for a Republican nominee for attorney general have overwhelmingly favored Samuel S. Olens over Preston W. Smith, who face each other in an Aug. 10 runoff.
Olens, the former Cobb County commission chairman, has collected about 13 times more in campaign contributions from lawyers than Smith. Olens pulled in $201,585 from lawyers, law firms and the campaign accounts of attorneys who have run for public office, according to state records filed through July 30. That amount comprises about 25 percent of Olens’ total fundraising haul of $810,214.
