When Adam S. Meyerowitz left his transactional law practice at King & Spalding to move in-house 11 years ago, he wanted to be a general counsel of a high-growth private company.
He’s met his goal and more as the first general counsel of Atlanta-based insurance brokerage and risk management consulting firm Beecher Carlson. Since he joined the company in 2004, it has grown by close to 1,000 percent in revenue and employees, from about $10 million and 40 people to nearly $100 million and 500 people today, according to Meyerowitz. Much of that growth has been through mergers and acquisitions, which happen to be the new GC’s forte.
