Two new firms have spun off from larger Atlanta firms-one handling intellectual property and the other predominantly focusing on medical malpractice defense.

The IP boutique, McKeon Meunier Carlin & Curfman, opened last week with five lawyers and two patent agents from Fish & Richardson and Ballard Spahr. A week earlier, 10 lawyers from Hall Booth Smith & Slover broke off to form Bendin, Sumrall & Ladner.
