Lawyers are complaining about a 567 percent increase in the cost of transmitting a trial court record to higher courts for an appeal, but solutions may have to wait until the Legislature convenes in January.
Even then, there’s no guarantee that county governments won’t try to block the Legislature from lowering the fee, which last week soared from $1.50 per page to $10 per page, because they want the additional revenue the fee generates.
