MADISON, Wis. AP – Republican Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen on Thursday asked the Legislature and governor for permission to join other states challenging the constitutionality of the new health care reform law.

In a letter to Gov. Jim Doyle and legislative leaders, Van Hollen said he believes there is a sufficient legal basis to challenge the portion of the law requiring people to carry health insurance, which he called “unprecedented and unique.”
