Unemployment claims for lawyers and legal staff declined in April, but the total number of unemployment claims in Georgia for legal personnel doesn’t show any improvement over this time last year. Still, several local hiring partners and a recruiter said that demand for lateral associates is gradually picking up.
In April, 46 lawyers filed unemployment claims, down from 64 lawyers in March. That compares to 74 lawyers filing for unemployment benefits in April 2009, according to data from the Georgia Department of Labor.
