A race between two attorneys seeking to fill a seat in the state Senate that had been held by an attorney highlights the legal community’s involvement in this year’s state elections.

Jason J. Carter of Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore is facing solo practitioner A. Thomas Stubbs of Decatur in the July 20 Democratic primary for the seat held by David I. Adelman, a former Sutherland partner who is now U.S. ambassador to Singapore. No Republican signed up to run for the DeKalb County district during last week’s qualifying period for partisan elections.
