Since Sen. Mitch Seabaugh unveiled a plan to trim the number of superior court judges statewide to save money, judges, sheriffs and some of Seabaugh’s fellow Republicans have protested that it’s a bad idea.

Seabaugh, a Coweta County Republican, said he’s talked by phone or met in person with at least a dozen judges to discuss his idea. They have also told Seabaugh that he used the wrong metric to assess which judicial circuits should lose judges.
