With just over a month remaining until the July 2 qualifying deadline, five candidates have said they will run for a seat on the Fulton County Superior Court, where a vacancy will open up following Judge Melvin K. Westmoreland’s decision to run for the Georgia Court of Appeals this year.

No one has announced a challenge to any the six other Superior Court judges whose seats are up for election this year. They are: Marvin S. Arrington Sr., Jerry W. Baxter, Christopher S. Brasher, Thomas R. Campbell Jr., Craig L. Schwall and Chief Judge Cynthia D. Wright.
