An Atlanta real estate lawyer begins his fourth week in jail today by order of a federal judge.
At the end of a court hearing on Jan. 22, U.S. District Senior Judge J. Owen Forrester ordered U.S. marshals to take attorney Ron D. Eckland of the Atlanta Real Estate Law Group into custody after finding the lawyer in contempt. The problem: Eckland’s failure to surrender financial documents that could help trace nearly $8 million in assets that have vanished from a troubled Alpharetta mortgage company.
