COLUMBIA, S.C. AP – Attorneys for a federal death row inmate who pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering a South Carolina woman said Monday that their client should not be executed and deserves a new trial.

Chadrick Fulks’ new defense team said at a hearing that their client would have fared better if he had gone to trial instead of pleading guilty. Fulks appeared by video conference from federal death row in Terre Haute, Ind.
