An Atlanta labor and employment lawyer is reveling in a major U.S. Supreme Court win for corporations seeking to avoid being dragged into state courts far from their corporate headquarters.
Frank B. Shuster of Atlanta’s Constangy, Brooks & Smith was the counsel of record in the case for the winning party, Hertz Corp., a longtime client. With help from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Shuster convinced the high court to hear Hertz’s argument, which the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had dismissed in an unpublished ruling that ran less than three pages.
