SAVANNAH, Ga. AP – Morris Publishing Group, the Georgia-based owner of 13 daily newspapers including The Augusta Chronicle and the Savannah Morning News, says it plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection within a week.
The Augusta-based company said in a news release Wednesday it will file a “prepackaged” plan in federal bankruptcy court by Tuesday. The plan would reduce the company’s $415 million in debt by nearly 70 percent.
