Proposed cuts to the DeKalb County courts’ budget would endanger domestic violence victims, DeKalb Superior Court Judge Clarence F. Seeliger wrote in a letter to the county CEO and board of commissioners. Cuts to public defenders would cause delays and cost DeKalb County more in the long run, he added.

In his letter sent Jan. 15, Seeliger said his opinions did not necessarily belong to other DeKalb judges. A spokeswoman for DeKalb CEO W. Burrell Ellis Jr. said many county agencies have written asking for reconsideration of proposed budget cuts.
