The State Bar of Georgia is preparing to fight a potential proposal in next year’s legislative session to tax legal services.
A tax on lawyering would come as part of a broad-based measure being studied by Gov. Sonny Perdue and state business leaders to radically remake Georgia’s tax code. The Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness for Georgians, which met for the first time on July 28, plans to submit its recommendations later this year. Those suggestions are expected to be filed in January as part of a legislative package.
