Gwinnett County Superior Court Senior Judge James W. Oxendine said Wednesday that he had retired, after the district attorney said the judge had violated state judicial ethics rules prohibiting sitting judges from the private practice of law.
“Because of questions that have arisen regarding my executing certain documents with a power of attorney, last week I accelerated my retirement which had been planned for the end of the year,” said Oxendine in a statement issued by the campaign office of his son, Insurance Commissioner and Republican gubernatorial hopeful John W. Oxendine.
