One of the odder aspects of Patrick Swayze’s career was how little impact he had in so many of his movies and the huge-beyond huge-impact he had in just two: “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost.”
Out of 30 years writing about movies, the 1987 screening of “Dirty Dancing” is still vivid, while I’ve forgotten what I saw yesterday. It was the same night that one of my oldest friends was coming to town, Pattie Porter Firestone legal connections: her husband, Charlie, is a lawyer and is now at the Aspen Institute, and her older sister, Cathy, is a lawyer, too.
