Public opinion on ethanol producer First United Ethanol LLC of Pelham has been on a roller coaster ride, according to the company’s outside general counsel, Patrick N. Millsaps.

First, said Millsaps, folks thought the southwest Georgia farmers and other investors launching the company were crazy to make ethanol from corn-in the middle of cotton and peanut fields.
