FAIRVIEW, N.J. AP – Bridget Tapkas is far from the only New Jersey property owner to fight a local government’s efforts to take her land under the state’s eminent domain laws.

The twist in her case is that officials in Fairview, where Tapkas’ family owns a truck repair and sales business, initially opposed neighboring Cliffside Park’s efforts to condemn and acquire her property. But Fairview recently changed course and now supports the move.
