Rachel Epps Spears, executive director of Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, has known for a while that she needed in-house legal help for the rapidly growing group that matches corporate lawyers with nonprofit organizations that can’t afford to pay.
In particular, she knew the group needed an expert in tax exempt law, as well as someone who could help recruit corporate counsel to donate their services. And she needed someone who would be willing to work part time, since the group couldn’t afford a full-time salary. And that someone needed to provide their own office space, since the partnership is housed on donated quarters at the Sutherland firm.
