A former Fulton County magistrate judge pleaded not guilty Wednesday to federal charges of conspiracy to harbor an alien and making false statements in what a federal prosecutor described as a case of “modern-day slavery.”
D. William Garrett Jr., 72, of Alpharetta, was arraigned Wednesday at the federal courthouse with his son, Russell Garrett, 43, a Forsyth County deputy sheriff, and his daughter-in-law, Malika Garrett, 42. They also pleaded not guilty.
