Pakenham, 52, is a partner at Alston & Bird. The firm was created in 1982 upon the merger of Alston, Miller & Gaines and Jones, Bird and Howell. After retiring from golf in 1930, Jones became a partner at Jones, Bird & Howell, a law firm that was co-founded by his father, Robert P. Jones.
