Whitley, a former U.S. Attorney for both the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, is a white-collar criminal defense attorney who broadened his practice into national security matters after serving as the first general counsel for the Department of Homeland Security.

Whitley, whose first day at Greenberg was Monday, said a key factor in his move was “the opportunity to work with a number of people I’ve known for any number of years who are here.” Greenberg’s three international offices and large national footprint were also a big draw to the 1,750-lawyer firm, he said.
