When Blake N. Melton decided to improve his golf game, it became an obsession for the Columbus lawyer-turned-banker. He took dozens of lessons and spent countless hours practicing. Over the past three years, Melton went from shooting in the low 80s to practically becoming a scratch golfer.

“I worked my tail off, and I love golf,” said Melton, 29, a 1.3-handicapper. “When I get into something, I really get into it, as my wife will attest. That’s the way my personality has always been.”
