The judge overseeing the trial of former Atlanta police officer Arthur Tesler, charged in the 2006 drug raid in which police shot and killed 92-year-old Kathryn Johnston in her home, opened jury selection to the press and public Tuesday morning, reversing an oral order Monday that had closed the proceedings at the defense’s request.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Michael D. Johnson opened the courtroom following an emergency motion filed by McKenna, Long & Aldridge attorney S. Derek Bauer, who acted on behalf of the Daily Report. The judge said he had concluded Monday evening that the closure was improper.
