Despite the recent downturn in the real estate market, Buckhead development continues to thrive. A significant driving force in the continued profitability of the Buckhead market is in part due to the growing movement toward environmentally conscious development, also known as “green” or “sustainable” building.

Consistent with its history of being one of the leading forces in the metro Atlanta real estate market, Buckhead is no different on the environmental front. In 2006, SustainLane.com ranked Atlanta No. 1 for green building, with 45 registered and 12 certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED buildings, and Buckhead developments are keeping that trend alive and well. LEED certification is simply a means of rating green building and design, the standards for which are promulgated by the U.S. Green Building Council.
