Lawyers who sit on bipartisan commissions in eight states that select candidates for federal judgeships support a recent recommendation by the American Bar Association to expand the use of bipartisan judicial nomination commissions.
But several disagreed with the premise that the commissions would alter the often lengthy and politicized process of selecting judges on the federal bench.
