A falloff in state revenues means that judges whose pay raises were vetoed by the governor in May have had to face more bad news: the prospect of laying off staff.

The state Court of Appeals has notified nine employees, including four staff attorneys, that they will lose their jobs starting Oct. 1. The Supreme Court of Georgia hasn’t had to go that far, but the Council of Superior Court Judges has announced an indefinite suspension of senior judge use in local trial courts.
