An appellate law expert has said Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears of the Supreme Court of Georgia could move up if Sen. Barack Obama is elected president.
A Washington Post article last week quoted Thomas C. Goldstein of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, who ranked Sears fourth in his predictions for the most likely lawyers Obama would choose to fill a vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court.
