THE 28 GEORGIA chief legal officers who made the GC South compensation survey-published Nov. 19 and available at www.dailyreportonline.com-represent a diverse group of industries. Four are women and one has been replaced by a woman this year. The two highest-paid represent energy companies, the third a global tractor maker.

The general counsel whose names appear in the most recent corporate Securities and Exchange Commission filings are not necessarily from the largest companies in Georgia. A notable feature of the list is who is not on it. None of the GCs from the five biggest public companies in Georgia-Home Depot, UPS, Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Enterprises or Delta Air Lines-made the list at all. Their chief legal officers may make more or less than those on the list, but they are not among the five highest-paid executives in the company, and thus are not reported in 2007 filings to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
